CIFSC Announces Danielle LeClair as new Chair

TORONTO, January 4, 2023 – The Canadian Investment Funds Standards Committee announced today that Danielle LeClair (Director of Manager Research, Morningstar Canada) will assume the Chair position at the Canadian Investment Funds Standards Committee, effective immediately. The CIFSC is the industry working group that maintains a single, industry-recognized classification framework for investment funds, ensuring that Canadian investors have an intuitive structure through which investment funds can be identified and compared.

“I’m excited to continue in a leadership capacity at CIFSC. Now more than ever, Canadians need a standard by which to find sustainable or responsible investment products alongside traditional characteristics like geographic and asset allocation. The CIFSC’s recent work around identifying these products will go a long way in helping Canadian investors find products that suit their investment objectives, which increasingly capture non-financial preferences like investing in line with their personal values,” said Leclair.

The Committee thanks outgoing Chair Ian Tam, CFA (Director of Investment Research, Morningstar Canada) for his contributions and leadership in 2022 and looks forward to ongoing collaborative efforts with all CIFSC members. Tam will remain active on the committee.

About the CIFSC:
CIFSC is made up of leading investment fund data publishing and analysis firms, consultants and other industry participants. Fund managers and distributors are not permitted to be direct members of the Committee, although input from these participants is received through membership of their representative trade associations. The Committee welcomes interested parties that are directly involved in the dissemination of investment fund data, and selected industry, investor and regulatory representatives. Since many of the Committee members are competitors in the marketplace, it is imperative that the Committee governs itself in a democratic fashion.
