RE: CIFSC Policies and Procedures Manual Update

The Canadian Investment Funds Standards Committee (CIFSC) has completed a comprehensive review of its Policies and Procedures Manual. The updates formalize changes to the proposal and fund classification processes that have been in practice for several years. In addition, one new policy has been introduced to address circumstances in which the Chair is unable to complete their term.

The revised Policies and Procedures Manual was ratified at the CIFSC meeting on January 28, 2026, and took effect on February 1, 2026.

A summary of the key updates is provided below:
• Extension of the minimum public comment period for proposals from 30 days to 60 days.
• Formalization of the quarterly review notification period extension from 5 business days to 30 days.
• Removal of the restriction limiting the release of category proposals to quarter-end.
• Simplification of the share classification review process.
• Elimination of the CIFSC communications subcommittee.
• Formalization of a 30-day notification procedure for third-party reclassification requests.
• Addition of a new policy addressing situations in which the Chair is unable to complete their term.
